Sharing is the go

The year 3/4 students have been busy studying the world of Google Docs.

Without physically getting out of their seat, the children can now share their Docs, Sheets and Slides. In the old terms that’s Word, Excel and PowerPoint. So the year 3/4 children will be able to work on Inquiry, Numeracy, Literacy, RE in fact any project with members of their team. They will be able to follow up work from school and at home. The children in their team will naturally meet at school, but if one of the members is away – No problem. All members can see the document and contribute wherever they are. So the sharing involves putting in their teams email addresses and sending it to them. So the gap between school and home narrows. Another feature available is the comment feature. Collaborators can comment on any aspect of the work and all team members can view or comment back.  How things have changed.

The world of Google

The year 3’s and 4’s received their Google accounts this term after the Catholic Education Office announced all Catholic Primary Schools in Victoria will be using and Education known as GAFE.

(Google Apps for Education). The students are able to create documents, sheets, presentations and drawings online. The big game changer here is that the children will be able to access their work from school and home. Once logged into their account, all work is automatically saved. We have created specific folders for the children to store their work and their class teachers have access to all work they do. They also have the capability of working with other children on the same document – even if they are not at school.
