The Hour of Code

The year 3/4’s last week completed their hour of code along with roughly 1700 other Australian code events and approximately 200,000 events worldwide.

Code is part of new digital technologies that schools are adopting by 2017. The students have already coded in Scratch -a free online coding language and they completed their hour of code at code.org Each student was awarded a certificate in appreciation of their work.

Performing Arts

The focus for Performing Arts this term was Music. The students learned to sing a variety of contemporary songs focusing on the elements of music including dynamics, pitch and rhythm patterns. They listened and responded to songs that I selected as well as songs of their own choosing. This exposure to varied musical pieces, enabled them to extend their musical terminology and ability to describe and explain their personal preferences.  The final learning sessions for the term involved learning our Christmas Carols and songs in preparation for our Park Orchards Community Christmas Carols event. The students performed exceptionally well and we were very proud of them.

L’italiano

The children in Level 3/4 started the term by presenting their pieces on ‘i passatempi’ to their class. What amazing work! We were all impressed !

Later in the term they learnt lots about the city of Rome and its most famous landmarks. The children were able to research and share their findings with the class. Again they demonstrated impressive work!

They also completed activities associated with Natale  (Christmas).FONTANA DI TREVI ROME PANORAMIC Buon Natale a tutti! ( Merry Christmas to all!)
