Indigenous Events in Warrandyte.

Manningham Council: Wurundjeri Stories at Pound Bend.

The site below is a link to information from Manningham Council about a new interpretive signage trail at Pound Bend. The trail shares traditional life, culture and historical events associated with this sacred Aboriginal heritage site.

In light of our recent unit on Indigenous Peoples the children might enjoy the new features on offer during the coming school holidays.

They are also offering these walks.

Join Indigenous cultural educators on a fascinating journey back in time to traditional Aboriginal life at Pound Bend. Following the new interpretive signage trail at Pound Bend, this exploration will include interactive challenges and traditional games along the way.

This event is suitable for children up to 13 years; children must be accompanied by a parent/carer.

ICT with Year 3/4 get into typing

Not too young to learn touch typing.

The year 3/4 have been touch typing and with scores as high as 39 words per minute.

One of the children came up and said “I have always wanted type properly. ”  I asked “why was that?” He replied “I want to become a writer.”

Author Visit.

IMG_0395 IMG_0396The students in Year 3-6 were treated to a visit from the author Felice Arena. His range of books includes, Specky Magee, Sally and Dave and his latest series is called Andy Roid. He was highly entertaining with many students surrounding him after the talk to collect signatures and ask questions.
